Tear Trough ImplantsA tear trough implant is a great solution for eliminating dark circles that may appear under your eyes by augmenting the bone mass under the eyelid and creating a more youthful appearance. In the past a small implant of a small a soft rubber like material was placed over the bone, but beneath the area of dark circles to add fullness to the area, and eliminate the shadow or dark circle. The implants were placed through an incision in the eyelid which created a noticeable scar and could cause a change in the shape of the lower eyelid. We've pioneered a new procedure that places the implant through a tiny laser incision on the inside of the eyelid. This procedure, called a transconjunctival approach, is a significant improvement in the technique for placing tear trough implants. Since there is no incision on the outside of the eyelid, there is no visible scarring, healing is much quicker, and there is no change to the shape of the eyelid and no sad-eyed look.
