The FDA approval of silicone breast implants released a flurry of excitement and a deluge of questions.
We at The Adams Center believe this approval gives women more options to choose what is best for them. Silicone implants are softer, and possibly more durable, but require a larger incision, an FDA recommended MRI every two years to check for implant integrity, and do not come in shaped form like saline implants.
The best incision for insertion is beneath the breast to allow for gentle insertion and recovery time is the same as for saline implants.
There seems to be a lot of misinterpretation and misunderstanding around this topic in the media.
