What is Micropigmentation (permanent make-up)?
Micropigmentation is the application of "permanent make-up." It's most commonly used for corrective and/or cosmetic enhancement of the eyebrows, eyelashes, lip line, the areola, or to correct scarring and uneven pigmentation.
How is permanent make-up applied?
Specialized state of the art digital equipment is used to implant granules of FDA approved pigment below the skin's surface. At first, the color may appear darker than the final result. Two treatments are usually needed, and are spaced two or more weeks apart.
How long is recovery?
Swelling and redness are usually mild. Recovery typically takes between 1 - 2 days depending upon which area is treated.
How long will my make-up last?
Micropigmentation lasts for several years, but will eventually be affected by exposure to sunlight, glycolics, Retin-A, and the natural breakdown of the colors by the body. Darker colors tend to last the longest.
Does Micropigmentation hurt?
Micropigmentation is performed using a topical anesthesia both before and during the procedure. While most people feel a tingle, others may experience slight discomfort.
Reasons for permanent make-up include:
- Natural looking color
- Busy schedule
- Active lifestyle
- Aging changes in the brows, lips, or eyes
- Sensitive skin or allergies to make-up
- Contact lenses, glasses, Lasik procedure
- Color correction of scars, breast areola loss, cleft lip, vitiligo
- Hair loss from alopecia, chemotherapy, or accidents
