Reverse the Appearance of Aging Skin Without Surgery
There is now a very effective method of restoring healthier and younger-looking skin regardless of age, color or skin type without electing a surgical procedure. If you are bothered by blemish-prone skin, wrinkles, sun damage or pigmentation problems, then you may be interested in learning more about this process.

In addition to treating fine lines and wrinkles on your face, the Obagi BLUE PEEL can also be used on your neck, chest, hands, back, arms and legs for a variety of problems including laxity and pigmentation problems.

Many of our patients experience positive results from the Obagi BLUE PEEL. It is a medical procedure that lightly peels the skin in a controlled manner. In some cases, it can produce the same or better result as deeper chemical peels or laser treatments.

Let us know if you would like to schedule a consultation or attend our next information session to learn more about this process.

Methods for Treating Fat
There are three main methods for treating fat. The first is Ultrasonic Liposuction (UAL). This is when fat is actually sucked out of the body. The second is to surgically resculpt the area. And the third method is to treat the top layer, or what is commonly referred to as the "cellulite problem" using Subdermal Therapy.

Ultrasonic Liposuction
Unlike regular suctioning, where the surgeon has to physically go back and forth to break up and suction out the fat, UAL breaks up the fat with sound waves. Ultrasonic Liposuction allows the surgeon to reestablish the fat that is left behind. This is important because the real issue is not how much fat has been taken out, but the resulting contour of the skin. One of the main benefits of UAL is that it allows the surgeon to redrape the remaining fat and skin over the bone structure in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

UAL also allows more precise control. And it reduces physical stress--both on the patient and doctor. Another advantage to this method is that it leaves no shearing and tearing, so almost any area of the body can be treated. In addition, larger volumes of fat can be removed because the amount of blood loss with this method is much less.

After the fat is removed, there are procedures that are performed to help reconstruct and raconteur the body. Some of them are: face/necklifts, breast lifts, tummy tucks, thigh, buttock and upper arm lifts. All of these procedures involve reconteuring the skin and redraping the fat.

Subdermal Therapy
Originally developed in France for physical therapy, doctors found that it also decreased the appearance of cellulite.

The Subdermal Therapy machine gently moves over the skin creating a suction which gently lifts the dermal layer from the herniated fat and gently massages it. This increases circulation and stimulates the deep layers of fat. When this happens some fat cells get destroyed and the rest are absorbed back into the system. Treatments work best when a body suit specifically designed for this treatment is worn. The suit allows the machine to pass smoothly over the skin and provides optimal privacy and hygiene for the patient.

The frequency of treatments and maintenance schedule will depend on your individual needs. This type of regime does require a long-term commitment to obtain optimum results. Most patients require Subdermal Therapy twice a week for 6 to 8 weeks and then monthly for 6 to 12 months. After that, you can expect to come in periodically every 2 to 3 months.

The Facts About Fat
As we all know, the issue of weight loss can be very frustrating. If you are one of those people that exercise, diet, and still can't lose weight, then chances are that your fat distribution is genetic. So the question is, what can you do about it? We all want something simple to help us improve our appearance. If you have a true fat problem, then you have to treat all the affected areas. This includes the underlying fat, the skeletal structure and the skin. Sometimes when just the fat is removed, you may be left with sagging skin. And in some cases, it is best to surgically reconstruct and re-contour the body in addition to removing the fat. You are more likely to achieve a result you will be pleased with if you take a holistic approach for treating the affected area(s).

Questions and Answers:

Q: What is cellulite?
A: Cellulite is a disturbance of the fatty tissue that lies just beneath the skin. That fat herniates up into the skin and produces a dimpling effect. It often appears in fatty areas of the body like the buttocks and outer thighs.

Q: Why are more women affected than men?
A: Women tend to have more cellulite than men because they have long fibrous bands of tissue fibers with fat coming up into it, causing uneven support of the skin. This is what makes the skin dimple and sometimes even bulge. Men tend to have a more supportive criss-cross structure of tissue fiber beneath the skin and fat. This supportive structure is one of the reasons men don't get cellulite as often.

Q: How can I optimize the results of aesthetic treatments and procedures?
A: I'm not going to tell you anything you haven't heard before. Some of the best ways to enhance your appearance include drinking at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, exercise regularly, and eat a well balanced diet low in fat. There are also many dietary supplements that can assist the body to cleanse itself. You just need to be careful, and learn the facts about any supplements that you consider. You also need to take care of your skin with beauty products that are appropriate for your condition.
