Are "Crow's feet" creeping in around your eyes?

Do the lines around your mouth linger after you've stopped laughing?

While there are surgical procedures available, these may not be the right answer for everyone.

Fortunately for the millions of people who've tried them, non-surgical procedures provide a more youthful appearance, faster recovery, and lower costs.

While the following may not be THE fountain of youth, they can at least slow the hands of time for a few months:

  • Botox treatments
  • Collagen injections
  • Dermabrasion
  • Chemical peels
  • Laser skin resurfacing
  • Some facials
  • If you have questions on these or other procedures, please call my office at 617-262-2208 for assistance.

    Summer Sun Protection
    .

    Summer is finally here!

With long hours of sunlight to lounge on the beach, hit the links and dig in the garden, it's time to put on the sunblock.

Although skin cancer is largely avoidable, the incidence has increased dramatically since the 1970's. Studies show that about 70% of adults don't protect themselves from the sun.

Here are some summer sun protection tips:

  • Avoid unnecessary exposure, especially during peak UV hours: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Apply sunblock rated SPF 30 or higher frequently
  • Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, broad- brimmed hats, and UV-protective sunglasses
  • Teach your children good sun protection habits. Most sun damage is done before you're 18
  • Examine your skin, head to toe once every 3 months
  • Check out our special line of high quality sunblock and moisturizers to help keep your skin healthy and safe.

Power Tips to Stay Forever Young
    .

Practiced regularly, these tips (contributed by Mary Hart of Iron Crow Yoga) can help prevent many of the negative effects of aging.

  • Breathe: Exhaling not only relieves stress, but you can actually tone the belly with proper breathing technique
  • Drink in Excess: Water rinses cell wastes, blood poisons and environmental toxins from the body
  • Eat Well: Try eating 5 small (but balanced) meals a day to keep your metabolic fire stoked
  • 3 stretches in 3 minutes: These stretches can help eliminate postural imbalances:
    • Serenity Pose
    • Standing Forward Bend
    • Beginners head stand (Dolphin Pose or Half-Dog Pose)
  • Seek a moderately challenging exercise routine:
    • 30% strength
    • 30% aerobic (low to medium impact)
    • 30% stretching
    • 10% relaxation

Allow for sufficient rest between workouts to help the body recuperate.

The Adams-Seckel Center now offers yoga and personal training. Contact us at 617-262-2208 for questions and to design a program to fit your specific needs.

    Exciting Changes at
    The Adams-Seckel Center

Recently, we celebrated the opening of our new Boston facility at 18 Newbury Street.

The event was a huge success! Made even more so by the fact that many of our patients were on hand to help us celebrate.

We'll be celebrating again this summer on the north shore. Scheduled for July, we will be moving our Salem office to our new location at 4 Centennial Drive in Peabody.

Like we did with our Boston facility, we will be expanding the services offered to include yoga and personal training.

Additionally, the Peabody office will feature a state-of-the art operating room, which will allow us to perform surgical procedures in the office.

I look forward to helping you look and feel your best this summer.

Please call 617-262-2208 to discuss your personal beauty goals, ask any questions, or to provide any suggestions.

    Best regards,

    William P. Adams, M.D., F.A.C.S.
