Dr. Adams Talks About How To Protect Yourself From Free Radicals

Free radicals are a major culprit when it comes to facial aging, fine lines, and wrinkles.  They are found everywhere in our every day environment – in pollution, radiation, cigarette smoke, herbicides and more.  So how do you protect your skin from the damage caused by free radicals?

1.   Fight back with antioxidants

Antioxidants help the body fight back against free radicals.  They can be found in many fruits and vegetable, especially those high in Vitamin C and Vitamin E.  Here are some high anti-oxidant foods you should include in your diet.

– Tomatoes

– Spinach

– Almonds

– Citrus fruits

– Broccoli

– Strawberries

– Acai

– Pomegranates

2.   Protect yourself from UV Rays

Exposure to UV radiation in sunlight contributes to damage from free radicals and facial aging.  Especially between the hours of 10 and 3 it is important to protect your skin from the sun.  Be sure to wear SPF 30 or higher and wear a hat to protect your face.  Check out these Adams MD sunscreens in our online store:

Daily Rep Sunblock SPF 30

Replenishing Sunblock SPF 36

3.   Quit Smoking

Smoking cigarettes speeds up the aging process.   The ingredients in cigarettes create free radicals that damage the lungs, age the skin, and yellow the nails.  Spending time in smoky environments also exposes you to high levels of free radicals as well.
