Lip Implants
April 30th, 2014

During the month of May we are going to be offering an extra special offer on Perma-lip Implants.  You can find out more under the specials tab on May 1st, however we thought it would be helpful to do a short Q&A with Dr. Adams about the lip implants.  Here are some frequently asked questions:

Q: What is the implant made out of?

Dr. Adams: The implant is made out of silicone gel.

Q. How do you decide how big of an implant to use?

Dr. Adams: The size of the implant is determined by the patient and how large he/she would like to go.  Typically, I use a larger implant in the lower lip to achieve a more natural appearance.

Q. Where is the procedure performed?

Dr. Adams: The procedure can be performed in our Peabody Office under local anesthesia.

Q.  How long does it take to perform the procedure?

Dr. Adams: It typically takes about 1 hour.

Q. How does one prevent infection following surgery?

Dr. Adams: I prep the area with anti-bacterial soap and a beta-dine prepper.  The patient is also given antibiotics.

Q. How long does it take to recover from the surgery?

Dr. Adams: Patients typically experience swelling for a few days following surgery.  Some will experience bruising.  Most patients are able to resume all normal activity one week following surgery.
