Cheap Plastic Surgery: A Boston Plastic Surgeon Weighs In On The Topic

Cheap and Plastic Surgery are not words you commonly hear in the same sentence…

Why do cosmetic procedures in a board certified plastic surgeon’s office cost what they do?  There are a number of requirements that factor into the cost of a plastic surgery procedure and all of them are important for a safe and successful surgical procedure.

#1. Operating Room

Hospitals charge plastic surgeons a fee for using an operating room at their facility.

#2. Anesthesiologist

Cosmetic surgery procedures require you to be under general anesthesia.  A qualified, certified anesthesiologist must be present to administer anesthesia when needed.

#3. Drugs

The drugs administered during a cosmetic procedure are quite costly.  It is important we have adequate supplies of all drugs needed to ensure you have a comfortable and safe surgical procedure.

#4. Doctor’s Expertise

If the cost of a procedure seems to good to be true, it probably is.  Cheap plastic surgery tells me that something fishy might be going on.  As a board certified plastic surgeon, I belong to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).  My credentials are published in their online member directories.  I am a Harvard Medical School Graduate and my education can be verified with my educational institution.  Each year I attend medical seminars and attend conferences with the most talented colleagues in the field to maintain my board certification.  Doing your research about a surgeon goes beyond glancing at their biography on a website.  If they aren’t a member of ASAPS or the ASPS, ask yourself why.

I hope this helps explain why plastic surgery costs are high.  It center’s around your safety as my patient.  We offer great financing options through Care Credit and our patient care coordinator Jessica will work with you to find a payment plan that works for you.
